Lingerie is women's undergarments and may imply their being fashionable and alluring. Lingerie undergarments use flexible, stretchy, sheer or decorative materials like Lycra, nylon, polyester, satin, lace, silk and sheer fabric. Certain cotton or synthetic undergarments are also lingerie.
Undergarments are clothes worn under other clothes, often directly next to the skin but may comprise more than one layer. If made of suitable material, some undergarments can serve as nightwear or swimsuits and some are intended for erotic effect. Different styles of undergarments are generally worn by women and men. Undergarments commonly worn by women today include brassieres and panties while men often wear Briefs. Items commonly worn by both sexes include Bikini underwear, Thongs and G-strings. Underwear is sometimes partly exposed for fashion reasons. A woman may for instance allow the top of her brassiere to be visible from under her collar or wear a see-through blouse over it. Panties are a form of underwear designed to be worn by women. Panties are most often form fitting but can also be loose.
